Houston Family Health is the office of Dr. Will Rankine and Shannon Merritt, FNP-C.

We are happy to see all patients ~ 5 years and up

Our hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
and Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
We are closed all major holidays.

Same-day appointments are generally available, but we recommend calling as early as possible to arrange these.


William O. Rankine, Jr., D.O.

Dr. Will Rankine grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, & moved to Macon during college. He received his B.S. in Biology from Georgia College & State University, in Milledgeville, where he was honored as Outstanding Departmental Major (Biology) upon graduation. He received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale. Dr. Rankine completed his Family Medicine residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, where he served as Chief Resident and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (the national medical honor society).

Upon completing his residency, he became board certified in Family Medicine.

Will and his wife, Wendy (a Macon native), have two wonderful sons, William and Weston. The Rankine Family is very happy to live, work, and worship in Central Georgia where EDIMGIAFAD.



Shannon Merritt, MSN, FNP-C

Shannon has served as a Nurse Practitioner for Houston Family Health since 2009.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2001 from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA.  Shannon worked as an Inpatient nurse, operating room nurse, and as a member of the surgical management team before returning to GCSU for her Master of Science to become a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2009. 

Shannon’s responsibilities as a Nurse Practitioner at Houston Family Health include the following:

» Patient evaluation and treatment of chronic and acute disease processes including high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, diabetes as well as the common cold, sinus infections and skin disorders.

» Women’s gynecological health and maintenance to include ordering pap smears, mammograms, bone density testing and oral contraceptive prescribing.

» Diet, exercise, and lifestyle modification education to improve long term health outcomes for patients.

Shannon has been a resident of central Georgia since 1989. Prior to working in healthcare, Shannon spent nearly ten years working in the hospitality and food service industry where she met her husband. She has been married for fifteen years and has three children. She enjoys spending time watching her boys play soccer, watching her daughter dance, and participating in their school functions.
